The
1st annual Touched By Cancer Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament was
held at Staley Farms Golf Club in June of 2002 to thank the sponsors
and kick-off the events for 2002. Many celebrities from Kansas City
accompanied each foursome of players in a scramble tournament. Superior
Lexus proudly donated a car for the lucky person who could shoot a hole
in one and Greg Gurley, a former Kansas University basketball star,
scored that on hole number 3.
Opening remarks
were made by KMBC 9 news anchor Lara Moritz and former Kansas City Chief
Bill Maas. Lunch was provided before the tournament by Scimeca’s
Italian Deli and a dinner party was held at the Big Chill Restaurant.
The tournament was a big success and a great way to kick off the events
for the foundation.
